The Star Spangle banner was adopted as a National Anthem of the United States.
Francis Scott Key wrote a poem entitled "Defense of Fort McHenry", being ispired by seen the American flag still flying amidst the battle. He never ment for it to become a song or a national anthem but in 1931 it was officially adopted by Congress as the first official national anthem of the United States.
